James Henry Bergeron is Chief Political Advisor to Commander, NATO Allied Maritime Command in Northwood UK and previously the POLAD to Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO. Operational POLAD tours include Joint Task Force Lebanon 2006, the Russia-Georgia Conflict 2008 and as POLAD to NATO’s CJTF Operation Unified Protector.

He is regularly consulted on NATO maritime strategy, transformational issues and was one of the drafters of the Alliance Maritime Strategy.  He is a former law professor and a retired Commander in the US Navy Reserve.  Jim holds a JD from Syracuse and LLM from the London School of Economics.  

He has taught EU and international law for 15 years and is published in the areas of international law, antitrust and security studies.
