Christophe Lacroix is a Bachelor in Humanities and Arts (History section) from the State University of Liège. A member of the Socialist Party, he has served as a member of the provincial legislature (2006-2012) before becoming a federal MP (2012-2014); he now sits on the Finance Committee, the National Defence Committee, and the Military Procurement Committee, and is the chairman of the Belgian Food Security Fund.
Since the federal elections of 2014, he has been a member of the Senate in Belgium and became a minister in the Walloon Government responsible for the Budget, Finance, the Civil Service, Administrative Simplification, Energy and the Climate (2014-2017). When the Walloon Government fell, he became chairman of the socialist group in the Senate. He is a member of the Institutional Affairs Committee and of the Regional Affairs Committee and co-chairman of the Federal Advisory Committee on European Affairs. He is also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and the mayor of the municipality of Wanze.
