Brussels/Rome, 17 August 2017 – “Barcelona suffered a horrific terrorist attack tonight. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the victims, the injured, their relatives and friends. All members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly stand with the people of Barcelona and of Spain in mourning and solidarity. We condemn this outrage in the strongest terms.
Jerusalem/Ramallah, 12 July 2017 – President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Paolo Alli (Italy) completed today an official visit to Israel and to the Palestinian Territories aimed at discussing the impact of broader regional developments for Israel, for the Palestinian Authority and for the Middle East peace process. “We should not let developments in Syria, Iraq and the broader region detract us from the urgent need for peace between Israelis and Palestinians”, Mr Alli stressed at the conclusion of his meetings in Jerusalem and Ramallah, and as Jason Greenblatt, the US Presidential envoy for the peace process, arrived in the region for a new round of talks. “I welcome the willingness expressed by both sides to seize the opportunity offered by renewed US efforts”, Mr Alli commented.
Kyiv, 6 July 2017 – “The Black Sea is a springboard for Russia’s efforts to extend its reach and influence far beyond its borders”, distinguished US diplomat and former NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow told legislators from NATO member and partner countries who gathered in Kyiv for a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA). Given the political, economic and human rights implications of Russia’s destabilizing policies, he stressed that all NATO Allies were stakeholders in the security of the Black Sea. In the face of Russia’s considerable military build-up , he suggested that NATO needed to consider a more persistent military presence in the region, especially when it came to maritime capabilities.
30 June 2017 – The 95th Rose-Roth meeting of legislators from NATO member and partner countries is set to open in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday 3 July.
Naples, Monday 19 June - NATO PA President Paolo Alli visited JFC Naples to discuss its role enabling NATO to respond to the evolving security environment.
